Nova Synchronized Swimming Club

      Coaches Mail List

Laura Mumme Mail to Amanda Podjarkowski
This year I have the pleasure and privilege to once again coach the Tier 3 team. I am currently a student at the U of A specializing in Physiology and Developmental Biology, and will be graduating this winter. I have also taken on the role of Club Manager until January at which time I will take on a new role of Co-Head Coach with Gail McKnight. This year we have successfully put together a team
of eight swimmers which include, Allison, Breanne, Paulina, Katherine,
Kim, Monique, Calla and Siobhan.  Most of the girls are new to Tier 3
so we will be focusing on basic positions and transitions that will
help lay a good foundation to build their new skills. Currently, I
have been evaluating the girls with an overall skills test that will
help determine our team goals and uncover the girls' strengths and
weaknesses. The girls' are going to have to work really hard and stay
focused for the next few months if we are going to achieve our goals
and finish choreography for our team on time. I can already tell this
is a team with a lot of energy and I look forward to applying all
their excitement into our weekly practices. Let's have a great year!

Erin MacAngus Mail to Heather Bourassa
Hello, My name is Erin MacAngus. I will have the privilege and pleasure of coaching the tier two team at Nova this year. The team consists of Emily Olsen, Hannah Olsen, Tori Alfaro, Olivia LeClair, Andjela Lilic, and Abbey Nyman. I am very excited and the girls and I have gotten off to a great start. I am new to the Nova coaching staff this year so I would like to introduce myself. This is my first year coaching full time and it is my twelfth year involved in synchro. I swam for three different clubs, Orca synchro, Nova synchro and the Edmonton Aqua masters. My greatest memories from Nova were made from the three trips I made to Nationals and our team’s Gold medal winning swim at Alberta Winter Games. Outside of the pool I am a student at the University of Alberta and am in my second last year of my Bachelor of Science Degree. I hope to pursue my masters in Physiotherapy once I graduate. This year is going to be very exciting and I am really looking forward to teaching and learning along with my team. We have established some very exciting goals. I look forward to meeting you all, please feel free to come and introduce yourself! Good luck to all the teams and I hope this year is a great one for Nova.

Amanda Podjarkowski Mail to Heather Bourassa
Hello everyone and welcome to the 2007-2008 season.  I am Amanda Podjarkowski and this year I will be coaching the Tier 4 team.  I am very excited to be working with these athletes.  This year my team includes Julia, Xenia, Samara, Sydney, Courtney, Becky, Marie-Helene and Heather.  These girls have shown that they are willing and able to be challenged at the Tier 4 level.

Just a little about myself, I have been coaching with Nova now for four years and am going on to my fifth year coaching.  This year I am also assisting for a short time with the Red Deer Synchro Club.  I have previously also coached at the Master level with the Edmonton Aquamasters.  I am certified as a level 2 coach.  I gained my synchro experience from swimming and swam for many years.  I swam as a star level swimmer for two years, I swam at the C level with the Auroras and then moved over to Nova for eight years.  Following those I also swam with the Aquamasters for two years.  I would love to continue swimming with the Aquamasters, but this year have decided to pursue ballroom dancing with my fiance.  I am currently in school finishing my biological sciences degree and on the side I work as a lifeguard.

I hope to get to know everyone well this year.  I will be having parent meeting for those parents on my team soon to introduce myself and to discuss my expectations as well as to hear your expectations of me.

I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope to see everyone at the pool sometime.

SMILE :)
Amanda

Gail McKnight Mail to Gail McKnight

A new synchro season is upon us and I am again in the fortunate position of returning to the NOVA twice a week competitive program.  I am looking forward to coaching team members Amy, Courtney, Debra-Rae, Ichrak, Megan, Matilda and Paula.  The girls are showing great energy and determination.  Each practice we strive to learn new skills and improve our basic swimming and synchro skills, flexibility, strength and endurance. I am proud to be associated with Nova Synchro and bring to the club a passion for synchronized swimming as well as numerous years of coaching experience.  I am confident that we will have a wonderful season filled with excitement and challenges. Keep synching,

Gail McKnight
